Top 5 Characteristics of a Good Shepherd (Trader)? in The Year of the Sheep

Please insert the word TRADER every time you see the word Sheep!

1. Understands the needs of the sheep better than they do-In Market terms-if you are a position swing trader (different than a buy and hold no matter what investor), understanding that sheep will herd, graze, scatter, poop then rejoin the herd-means you understand that this is the nature of the 2015 trading range. The Shepherd should be one step ahead of the herd!

2. Understands what threatens sheep and what makes them sick-The market fears uncertainty. Currently, there are a few areas of concern. Greece might be the number one. The Federal Reserve’s ongoing policy is another. Then, there’s basic fear mongering prevalent pretty much always, but particularly rears its ugly head when fueled by the above uncertainty.

3. Works tirelessly to provide protection and security-This is where trading with a calm head and having a bottom line level of risk exposure planned for in advance (position sizing based on a sane percentage of your overall equity), are ways to take emotions out of the trading process. You do this in my teachings of Fast Money Trading.  Setting up you trades and using consistent stops on top and bottom or all trades.

4. Shears sheep and examines each one for injury or disease-In a trading range or enclosed sheep pasture, it is beneficial to lock in profits or shear your positions when they are going your way. That way, if a trade gets “injured” you have already taken profits off the table. This is in your traders notebook and you probably have been doing this for some time anyway.

5. Keeps sheep “on the move” so they don’t get into a rut-This means two things really. First, having a well-balance portfolio so should one position falter, trading across several asset classes helps your portfolio from falling into a “rut”. Secondly, even with locking in profits on rallies, holding partial positions going your way, takes advantage of potential further momentum. Daily “Momentum Numbers” takes care of this.

So how did we do for the last week in the Fast Money Trading Team trading room & no Slow Money Options or trades for  me last week I was on a much needed costal vacation.  Probably won’t be going there again due to the sharks in the water Come on let me teach you how to Fast Money Trade.  I have had hundreds students over the years most are successful but not all.  Some are willing to learn and let me help them and follow this new way to trade.  Others are mired in their old ways and either won’t listen, thinking that they’ve a better way to do things.  All I ask is have a open mind listen and ask questions.  Making my daily goal of $250+ on average on a weekly basis will give me  somewhere around $60,000 year.  This sure goes a long way in supplement my retirement dollars and lifestyle. Please view my results.  This is a teaching site.

My results for the year are posted so you can see what and when I traded weekly. https:/docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccckey=0AjgjBJLwH3rdERid3A0RE1GRFlyaHB0S0VxbHc0Vnc&usp=drive_web#gid=0
